Slangrivier, a brief history The farm is situated on the slopes of Groenberg mountain in Wellington Wine tastings by appointment.
Terroir This magnificent property is situated on the slopes of the Groenberg Mountain in Wellington and enjoys a distinctly different climate to the surrounding region, resulting in a unique terroir. Groenberg is so named because its unique location stands in lush contrast to the area. Vineyards are planted on the slopes of Groenberg which lends diversity to the different cultivars. Also, the rainfall is higher, the soil richer, and the summer temperatures more moderate. This provides the special micro-climate in which we grow our grapes. Temperatures are low enough to allow the vineyards to rest well storing resources for the growth phase beginning in Spring. The vines are planted in a variety of Oakleaf soils which, together with these cool elevated peaks, enable us to select the most suitable terroir for each cultivar.
Vineyards The farm has approximately 84 ha under vine. There are substantial established plantings of noble cultivars Cabernet Sauvignon, Ruby Cabernet, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
The cellar It’s completely equipped with the State of the art equipment by the winemaker/cellar master Hennie Huskisson.
